APALA | black / blue

The APALA is our take on the classic tote bag: very simple, sewn from a single piece of fabric, and featuring a single shoulder strap. At the top, an elastic drawstring closes the deep bag, ensuring nothing falls out. It has two pockets on the outside, three small pockets on the inside, and a carabiner hook for your keys. At first glance, the APALA looks quite small, but it holds a surprising amount. It is made from water-repellent organic cotton, with a small logo made of vegetable-tanned leather. Every APALA is sewn in our studio in Berlin.

MATERIAL & CARE 

Organic cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted panama weave, woven and dyed in Germany and Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear. It is exceptionally robust and abrasion-resistant, yet feels pleasantly soft. It is treated with a PFC-free C0 finish that causes rain to bead off and contains no harmful chemicals.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply shake out dust, as you would with a pillow. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, preferably without using any soap. For a more thorough cleaning, work some mild soapy water (a gentle shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric using a soft brush, then wipe with clear water afterward. This prevents soap residue from remaining in the fabric, which could otherwise leave marks. Blot the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, keeping it away from heaters or direct heat.

Vegetable-tanned leather
The logo is made of vegetable-tanned leather from Belgium and will develop a beautiful patina over time.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. You can even out water spots or dry areas by rubbing the damp cloth over the spot and the surrounding area. About once a year, the leather appreciates a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Ensure that none of it gets onto the fabric, as it can leave stains there.

Hardware
The carabiner hook is made of aluminum and requires no special care.
Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or soften, and that is exactly what shows what your bag is made of.
