APALA | black

The APALA is our version of the classic tote bag: very simple, sewn from a single piece
of fabric and with a single shoulder strap.
An elastic drawstring closes the deep bag at the top so nothing falls out. On the outside, it has two pockets; inside, there are three small pockets and a carabiner for your keys. At first glance, the APALA looks rather small, but it holds a surprising amount.
It is made from water-repellent organic cotton, with a small logo made of vegetable-tanned leather. Each APALA is sewn in our studio in Berlin.

MATERIAL & CARE

Organic cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted panama weave, woven and dyed in
Germany and Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear. It is
correspondingly robust and abrasion-resistant, yet still feels pleasantly soft. It is
impregnated with a PFC-free C0 finish that lets rain bead off and is completely free of harmful
chemicals.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply tap out dust, just like with a cushion. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly
damp microfiber cloth, ideally without any soap at all. For a more thorough
cleaning, work a little mild soapy water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and then wipe with clear water. This ensures no soap residue remains in the fabric, which could otherwise leave marks.
Pat the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, keeping it away from radiators and direct heat.

Vegetable-tanned leather
The logo is made of vegetable-tanned leather from Belgium and develops a beautiful patina over time.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt.
You can even out water stains or dry spots by rubbing the damp cloth over the area and the surrounding surface. About once a year, the leather appreciates a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Be careful that none of this gets onto the fabric, as it can leave stains.

Hardware
The carabiner is made of aluminum and requires no special care.
Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or become softer, and that is exactly what shows what your bag is made of.
