APALA | lavender

The APALA is our take on the classic tote bag: very simple, sewn from a single piece of fabric and featuring a single shoulder strap. At the top, an elastic drawstring closes the deep bag so that nothing falls out. On the outside, it has two pockets; on the inside, there are three small pockets and a snap hook for your keys. At first glance, the APALA looks rather small, but it holds a surprising amount. It is crafted from water-repellent organic cotton, with a small logo made of vegetable-tanned leather. Every APALA is sewn in our Berlin studio.

MATERIAL & CARE

Organic cotton The organic cotton is a triple-twisted Panama weave, woven and dyed in Germany and Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear. It is correspondingly robust and abrasion-resistant while still feeling pleasantly soft. It is impregnated with a PFC-free C0 finish that lets rain bead off and is completely free of harmful chemicals. Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply shake out dust, just like a pillow. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, ideally without any soap at all. For a more thorough cleaning, work some mild soapy water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and then wipe it off with clear water. This ensures no soap residue remains in the fabric, which could otherwise leave marks. Dab the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, keeping some distance from heaters or direct heat.

Vegetable-tanned leather The logo is made of vegetable-tanned leather from Belgium and will develop a beautiful patina over time. Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. You can even out water spots or dry areas by rubbing the damp cloth over the spot and the surrounding area. About once a year, the leather will appreciate a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Be careful that none of it gets on the fabric, as it can leave stains there.

Hardware The snap hook is made of aluminum and requires no special care. Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or become softer, and that is exactly what shows what your bag is made of.
