APALA | linen

The APALA is our version of the classic tote bag: very simple, sewn from a single
pattern piece and with a single shoulder strap.
An elastic drawstring closes the deep bag at the top so that nothing falls out. Outside, it has two pockets, inside three small pockets and a carabiner for your keys. At first glance, the APALA looks rather small, but it holds an astonishing amount.
It is made of water-repellent organic cotton, the small logo is made of vegetable-tanned leather. Each APALA is sewn in our studio in Berlin.

MATERIAL & CARE 

Organic cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted Panama weave, woven and dyed in
Germany and Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear.
It is correspondingly robust and abrasion-resistant while still feeling pleasantly soft. It is
impregnated with a PFC-free C0 finish, which causes rain to bead off and does not require
any harmful chemicals.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply tap out dust,
just like you would with a pillow. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly
damp microfiber cloth, ideally without any soap at all. For a more thorough
cleaning, work a little mild soapy water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent
works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and wipe afterwards with clean
water. This ensures no soap residue remains in the fabric, which could otherwise leave marks.
Pat the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, keeping some distance from heaters and direct heat.

Vegetable-tanned leather
The logo is made of vegetable-tanned leather from Belgium and will develop a
beautiful patina over time.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt.
Water stains or dry spots can be evened out by rubbing the damp cloth over the spot and the area around it. About once a year, the leather appreciates a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Make sure that none of it gets on the fabric, as it can leave stains there.

Hardware
The carabiner is made of aluminum and requires no special care.
Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or soften, and that is precisely what shows what your bag is made of.
