The APALA is our version of the classic tote bag: very simple, sewn from a single
pattern piece and featuring a single shoulder strap.
An elastic drawstring at the top closes the deep bag, ensuring nothing falls out. It has
two pockets on the outside, three small pockets on the inside, and a snap hook to hold
your keys. At first glance, the APALA appears quite small, but it holds an astonishing amount.
It is made from water-repellent organic cotton, with a small logo made of vegetable-tanned
leather. Every APALA is sewn in our studio in Berlin.

MATERIAL & CARE
Organic cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted Panama weave, woven and dyed in
Germany and Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear. It is
accordingly robust and abrasion-resistant while still feeling pleasantly soft.
It is impregnated with a PFC-free C0 finish that lets rain bead off and requires
no harmful chemicals.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply shake out dust,
as you would with a cushion. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly
damp microfiber cloth, ideally without any soap. For a more thorough cleaning, work
some mild soapy water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric
with a soft brush and then wipe with clean water afterwards. This prevents soap residue
from remaining in the fabric, which could otherwise leave marks. Pat the bag dry with a
towel and let it air dry, keeping some distance from heaters and direct heat.
Vegetable-tanned leather
The logo is made of vegetable-tanned leather from Belgium and will develop a
beautiful patina over time.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt.
You can balance out water spots or dry patches by rubbing the damp cloth over the spot
and the surrounding area. About once a year, the leather will appreciate a natural,
colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Make sure that none of it gets onto
the fabric, as it can leave stains there.
Hardware
The snap hook is made of aluminum and requires no special care.
Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or become softer,
and that is precisely what shows what your bag is made of.
