BABY IKASI | olive wood

The BABY IKASI is our backpack for little explorers of kindergarten age. It is compact and lightweight and designed to fit well on a small back.

Two contrasting outer pockets are located on the front for anything that needs to be quickly at hand: a tissue, the best stone found at the playground, or a favorite toy car. The flap closes with a magnetic FIDLOCK buckle, and underneath, a drawstring keeps everything securely in place. Inside, there is a small pocket for treasures and a snap hook to keep keys safe.

The BABY IKASI is made from water-repellent organic cotton, with a padded wool felt back. We have edged the side seams with vegetable-tanned leather. This allows the backpack to withstand the way four-year-olds carry their things: sometimes dragged behind them, sometimes tossed swingingly into a corner.

Inside and out

Carrying comfort
The back panel is padded with wool felt. It makes the backpack pleasantly soft against the back and gives it its shape.
Closure

The flap closes with a magnetic FIDLOCK buckle, while a drawstring provides additional security for the contents.

MATERIAL & CARE

Organic Cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted panama weave, woven and dyed in Germany and Italy. Originally, this fabric was developed for workwear. It is correspondingly robust and abrasion-resistant, yet feels pleasantly soft. It is impregnated with a PFC-free C0 treatment that allows rain to bead off and contains no harmful chemicals.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply shake dust out, just like a pillow. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, ideally without any soap. For a more thorough cleaning, work some mild soapy water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and then wipe with clear water. This prevents soap residue from remaining in the fabric, which could otherwise leave marks. Pat the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, keeping it away from radiators and direct heat.

Wool Felt
The padded back panel is made of wool felt from Italy, consisting of 75% recycled wool from New Zealand and 25% polyester. It is breathable, regulates heat and cold, and provides structure for the small backpack.
Care: The felt is protected on the inside and requires no special care. If something does spill, dab the area with a damp cloth and leave the bag open to air dry.

Vegetable-Tanned Leather
The side seams are edged with vegetable-tanned leather from Italy, where the backpack experiences the most wear and tear. Over time, the leather develops a patina that deepens through touch, light, and use.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. You can even out water spots or dry areas by rubbing the damp cloth over the spot and the surrounding surface. About once a year, the leather benefits from a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Ensure that none of it gets on the fabric, as it can leave stains.

Hardware
The magnetic buckle is from FIDLOCK, the snap hook is made of aluminum. Neither requires special care.

Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or soften, and that is exactly where the character of your bag shows.
