BABY IKASI | strawberry

The BABY IKASI is our backpack for little explorers of kindergarten age. It is compact, lightweight, and shaped to fit a small back perfectly.

On the front, there are two contrasting outer pockets for everything that needs to be close at hand: a tissue, the prettiest stone from the playground, or a favorite toy car. The flap closes with a magnetic FIDLOCK buckle, and underneath, a drawstring keeps everything securely in place. Inside, there is a small pocket for treasures and a carabiner hook to keep keys safe.

The BABY IKASI is made from water-repellent organic cotton, with a padded back made of wool felt. The side seams are edged with vegetable-tanned leather. This ensures the backpack can withstand how four-year-olds treat their things: sometimes dragged behind them, sometimes tossed swingingly into a corner.

Inside and out

Carrying comfort
The back panel is padded with wool felt. It makes the backpack pleasantly soft against the back and gives it its shape.
Closure

The flap closes with a magnetic FIDLOCK buckle, and a drawstring underneath provides extra security for the contents.

MATERIAL & CARE

Organic Cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted panama weave, woven and dyed in Germany and Italy. Originally developed for workwear, this fabric is appropriately robust and abrasion-resistant while still feeling pleasantly soft. It is treated with a PFC-free C0 finish that lets rain bead off without the need for harmful chemicals.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply shake dust out, just like a cushion. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, preferably without any soap. For a more thorough cleaning, work some mild soapy water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and then wipe with clean water. This ensures no soap residue remains in the fabric, which could otherwise leave marks. Dab the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, away from heaters or direct heat.

Wool felt
The padded back panel is made of wool felt from Italy, consisting of 75% recycled wool from New Zealand and 25% polyester. It is breathable, balances heat and cold, and gives the small backpack structure.
Care: The felt is protected on the inside and requires no special care. If something does spill, dab the area with a damp cloth and let the bag dry in the air while open.

Vegetable-tanned leather
The side seams are edged with vegetable-tanned leather from Italy, placed where the backpack is subjected to the most stress. Over time, the leather develops a patina that deepens with touch, light, and use.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. You can even out water spots or dry areas by rubbing the damp cloth over the spot and the surrounding surface. About once a year, the leather will benefit from a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Be careful not to let any get on the fabric, as it may leave stains.

Fittings
The magnetic closure is by FIDLOCK, the carabiner hook is made of aluminum. Both require no special care.

Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or become softer, and that is exactly what shows what your bag is made of.
