ESKOLA | by and from constable

The ESKOLA is our school bag, designed for the weight and rhythm of a full school
day. Everything inside has its own designated place: heavy books sit close to the back,
the lunchbox and water bottle have their own compartments, and there is an extra
pocket in the front for little treasures. At around 850 grams, the ESKOLA is pleasantly
light, ensuring the walk to school remains comfortable even for small shoulders.

Apart from the magnetic closures, thread, and straps, the ESKOLA is made from
renewable raw materials: water-repellent organic cotton on the outside, wool felt on the
inside, and vegetable-tanned leather on the edges and base—exactly where a school bag
needs to be most durable during daily school life. Our goal is to increase this share to
100%. Every ESKOLA is sewn in our studio in Berlin and is built to last throughout
primary school and then be passed on to younger siblings in good condition. Nora
originally designed it for her own daughter; today, it is our most well-known piece.

Interior

The interior is divided into three compartments. The back compartment lies directly against
the back, allowing the weight of books and notebooks to be carried close to the body.
This compartment is also made of water-repellent organic cotton, providing extra protection
for books and notebooks. The main compartment has space for a pencil case, lunchbox,
and water bottle. In the front, there is a dedicated compartment for smaller items to keep
them protected and easy to find quickly.
Inside the flap, there is a zippered pocket for personal belongings. The key hangs from a
snap hook, and a webbing loop keeps the water bottle upright so nothing tips over or spills.

Carrying comfort and visibility
The back panel and shoulder straps are padded, and the straps are adjustable in length.
This keeps the ESKOLA comfortable all school day long. Reflective piping on the edges
and on the leather trim at the front ensures your child is well-seen on dark winter
mornings and afternoons.

Closure
The magnetic FIDLOCK closures open with a simple downward pull and snap shut almost by
themselves. Even small hands can manage this without any help.
Chest strap
The ESKOLA fits so well on the back that most children do not need a chest strap. If you
would still like one, you can simply order it, and we will sew it directly onto the bag.

Organic Cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted Panama weave, woven and dyed in Germany and
Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear. It is correspondingly robust and
abrasion-resistant while still feeling pleasantly soft. It is impregnated with a PFC-free C0
finish that makes rain bead off and contains no harmful chemicals. It is made for everything
that a school day brings.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply knock out dust,
just like a pillow. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly damp microfiber
cloth, ideally without any soap. For a more thorough cleaning, work some mild soapy
water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and
then wipe with clear water. This prevents soap residue from remaining in the fabric, which
could otherwise leave marks. Dab the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, away from
heaters or direct heat.

Wool Felt
The inner lining is wool felt from Italy, made from 75% recycled wool from New Zealand
and 25% polyester. It gives the bag its shape, cushions the back, and is breathable.
Wool balances heat and cold, so the back stays comfortable.
Care: The felt sits protected inside and does not require any special care. If something
does spill, dab the area with a damp cloth and let the bag dry open in the air.

Vegetable-tanned leather
The edges and base of the ESKOLA are reinforced with vegetable-tanned leather from Italy.
It protects the areas that receive the most wear during the school day and becomes more
beautiful with every year: through touch, light, and use, it develops a patina that grows
deeper. Every mark it gathers tells a part of your child's school life.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. You can even out
water spots or dry areas by rubbing the damp cloth over the area and the surrounding
surface. About once a year, the leather appreciates a natural, colorless leather wax or oil
to nourish and protect it. Ensure that none of it gets on the fabric, as it can leave stains there.

Fittings
The magnetic closures are from FIDLOCK, and the sliders and snap hooks are made of
aluminum. They do not require special care.
Natural materials change over time. Colors can darken slightly or become softer, and
that is exactly what shows what your bag is made of.
