Choose your desired fabric color and combine it as you like with various webbing colors and leather options. You can visualize your color selection with our CUSTOM TOOL – simply send us a screenshot of your preferred combination with your order. You are also welcome to order a SWATCH KIT to hold the materials in your hand and combine them with the original materials.
The ESKOLA is our schoolbag, made for the weight and rhythm of a full school day. Inside, everything has its fixed place: heavy books sit close to the back, lunchbox and water bottle have their own compartment, and there is an extra front pocket for little treasures. At around 850 grams, the ESKOLA is pleasantly light, keeping the journey to school comfortable even for small shoulders.
Aside from magnetic fasteners, thread, and webbing, the ESKOLA is made from renewable materials: water-repellent organic cotton on the outside, wool felt on the inside, and vegetable-tanned leather on the edges and base—exactly where a schoolbag needs to be most durable in everyday use. Our goal is to bring this share to 100%. Each ESKOLA is sewn in our studio in Berlin, and it is built to last throughout primary school and then be passed on to younger siblings. Nora originally designed it for her own daughter; today, it is our most well-known piece.

Interior
The interior is divided into three compartments. The rear compartment sits directly against the back so the weight of books and notebooks is carried close to the body. This compartment is also made of water-repellent organic cotton, providing extra protection for notebooks and books. The main compartment has room for a pencil case, lunchbox, and water bottle. There is a separate front pocket for smaller items so they are protected and easy to find again.
In the flap, there is a zippered pocket for personal items. A key hangs from the snap hook, and a webbing loop holds the water bottle upright so nothing tips over or leaks.

The back panel and shoulder straps are padded, and the straps are length-adjustable. This keeps the ESKOLA comfortable all day long. Reflective piping on the edges and on the front leather trim ensures your child is well-seen on dark winter mornings and afternoons.

The ESKOLA sits so well on the back that most children do not need a chest strap. If you would still like one, you can simply order it additionally, and we will sew it directly onto the bag.

MATERIAL & CARE
Organic Cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted panama weave, woven and dyed in Germany and Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear. It is correspondingly robust and abrasion-resistant, yet feels pleasantly soft. It is impregnated with a PFC-free C0-treatment that causes rain to bead off and contains no harmful chemicals. It is made for everything a school day entails.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt dry first. You can also simply shake out dust, just like a pillow. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, preferably without any soap. For a more thorough cleaning, work some mild soap suds (a mild shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and then wipe down with clean water. This ensures no soap residue remains in the fabric, which could otherwise leave rings. Blot the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, keeping some distance from heaters and direct heat.

The inner lining is wool felt from Italy, made from 75% recycled wool from New Zealand and 25% polyester. It gives the bag its shape, cushions the back, and is breathable. Wool balances heat and cold, keeping things comfortable on the back.
Care: The felt sits protected inside and requires no special care. Should something ever spill, blot the area with a damp cloth and let the bag air dry while left open.

Every mark it collects tells a piece of your child's school life.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. You can even out water stains or dry spots by rubbing the area and the surrounding surface with the damp cloth. About once a year, the leather appreciates a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Ensure that none of it gets onto the fabric, as it can leave stains there.

As soon as we have received your selection, the schoolbag will be produced and shipped within 3 weeks. If you need it sooner, just ask – we will do our best to make it possible.
