The ESKOLA is our school bag, designed for the weight and rhythm of a full school day. Everything inside has its own designated place: heavy books sit close to the back, lunchbox and water bottle have their own compartment, and there is an extra pocket at the front for little treasures. At around 850 grams, the ESKOLA is pleasantly light, keeping the journey to school comfortable even for small shoulders.

Apart from the magnetic buckles, thread, and straps, the ESKOLA is made from renewable raw materials: water-repellent organic cotton on the outside, wool felt on the inside, and vegetable-tanned leather on the edges and base—exactly where a school bag needs to be most durable in daily life. Our goal is to increase this proportion to 100%. Every ESKOLA is sewn in our studio in Berlin and is built to last throughout primary school, after which it can be passed on to younger siblings. Nora originally designed it for her own daughter, and today it is our most well-known piece.

Interior

The interior is divided into three compartments. The back compartment is positioned directly against the back, ensuring the weight of books and notebooks is carried close to the body. This compartment is also made of water-repellent organic cotton, providing extra protection for books and notebooks. The main compartment has room for a pencil case, lunchbox, and water bottle. There is a separate front pocket for smaller items, keeping them protected and easy to find quickly.
A zippered pocket for personal items is located inside the flap. A snap hook holds keys, and a webbing loop keeps the water bottle upright, preventing anything from tipping over or spilling.

Comfort and Visibility
The back panel and shoulder straps are padded, and the straps are adjustable in length. This ensures the ESKOLA sits comfortably throughout the entire school day. Reflective piping on the edges and on the front leather trim ensures your child is clearly visible on dark winter mornings and afternoons.

Closure
The magnetic FIDLOCK buckles open with a simple downward pull and snap shut almost by themselves. Small hands can manage this easily without any help.
Chest Strap
The ESKOLA fits so well on the back that most children do not need a chest strap. If you would like one anyway, you can simply add it to your order, and we will sew it directly onto the bag.

Organic Cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted Panama weave, woven and dyed in Germany and Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear. It is correspondingly robust and abrasion-resistant, yet feels pleasantly soft. It is impregnated with a PFC-free C0 finish that causes rain to bead off and contains no harmful chemicals. It is made for everything a school day brings.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply shake out dust, just like a pillow. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, ideally without any soap. For a more thorough cleaning, work a little mild soap solution (a mild shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and then wipe clean with clear water. This ensures no soap residue remains in the fabric, which could otherwise leave marks. Pat the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, away from radiators and direct heat.

Wool Felt
The inner lining is wool felt from Italy, made from 75% recycled wool from New Zealand and 25% polyester. It gives the bag its shape, cushions the back, and is breathable. Wool balances heat and coolness, keeping the back comfortable.
Care: The felt is protected inside and does not require any special care. If something does spill, simply dab the area with a damp cloth and leave the bag open to air dry.

Vegetable-Tanned Leather
The edges and base of the ESKOLA are reinforced with vegetable-tanned leather from Italy. It protects the areas that endure the most during the school day and becomes more beautiful with every year: through touch, light, and use, it develops a patina that deepens over time. Every mark it collects tells a story of your child's school life.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. You can even out water stains or dry areas by rubbing the damp cloth over the spot and the surrounding surface. About once a year, the leather benefits from a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Make sure none of it gets onto the fabric, as it can leave stains there.

Fittings
The magnetic buckles are by FIDLOCK, and the sliders and snap hooks are made of aluminum. They do not require any special care.
Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or become softer, and that is exactly what shows what your bag is made of.
