The ESKOLA is our school bag, designed for the weight and rhythm of a full school day. Everything inside has its own designated place: heavy books sit close to the back, lunchbox and water bottle have their own compartment, and there is an extra pocket at the front for small treasures. Weighing around 850 grams, the ESKOLA is pleasantly light, keeping the walk to school comfortable even for small shoulders.

Aside from magnetic closures, thread, and straps, the ESKOLA is made from renewable raw materials: water-repellent organic cotton on the outside, wool felt on the inside, and vegetable-tanned leather on the edges and base—exactly where a school bag needs to be most durable during daily school life. Our goal is to increase this share to 100%. Every ESKOLA is sewn in our Berlin studio and built to last throughout primary school, after which it can easily be passed on to younger siblings. Nora originally designed it for her own daughter; today, it is our most well-known piece.

Interior

The interior is divided into three compartments. The rear compartment sits directly against the back, so the weight of books and notebooks is carried close to the body. This compartment is also made of water-repellent organic cotton, providing extra protection for books and notebooks. The main compartment has room for a pencil case, lunchbox, and water bottle. There is a separate front pocket for smaller items to keep them protected and easy to find.
Inside the flap, there is a zippered pocket for personal items. A carabiner hook holds the keys, and a webbing loop keeps the water bottle upright to prevent tipping or leaking.

Comfort and Visibility
The back panel and shoulder straps are padded, and the straps are adjustable in length. This ensures the ESKOLA sits comfortably all day long. Reflective piping on the edges and on the front leather trim ensures your child is clearly visible on dark winter mornings and afternoons.

Closure
The magnetic FIDLOCK closures open with a simple downward pull and snap shut almost automatically. Even small hands can manage this without any help.
Chest Strap
The ESKOLA sits so well on the back that most children do not need a chest strap. If you would still like one, you can simply order it, and we will sew it directly onto the bag.

Organic Cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted Panama weave, woven and dyed in Germany and Italy. Originally developed for workwear, this fabric is robust and abrasion-resistant while still feeling pleasantly soft. It is treated with a PFC-free C0 finish that lets rain bead off without the need for harmful chemicals. It is made for everything that a school day brings with it.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt while dry. You can also simply tap out dust, just like a pillow. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly damp microfiber cloth, ideally without any soap. For more thorough cleaning, work a little mild soapy water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and then wipe with clean water. This prevents soap residue from remaining in the fabric, which could otherwise leave marks. Dab the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, away from heaters and direct heat.

Wool Felt
The inner lining is wool felt from Italy, made from 75% recycled wool from New Zealand and 25% polyester. It gives the bag its shape, cushions the back, and is breathable. Wool balances heat and cold, keeping your back comfortable.
Care: The felt is protected inside and requires no special care. If something does spill, dab the spot with a damp cloth and leave the bag open to air dry.

Vegetable-Tanned Leather
The edges and base of the ESKOLA are reinforced with vegetable-tanned leather from Italy. It protects the areas that endure the most wear and tear during school life and becomes more beautiful each year: through touch, light, and use, it develops an increasingly rich patina. Every mark it collects tells a piece of your child's school story.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt. You can even out water stains or dry spots by rubbing the area and the surrounding surface with a damp cloth. About once a year, the leather appreciates a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it. Make sure none of it gets on the fabric, as it can cause stains there.

Hardware
The magnetic closures are by FIDLOCK; the sliders and carabiner hooks are aluminum. They do not require any special care.
Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or soften, and that is exactly where the character of your bag shows through.
