ESKOLA | bright mustard

The ESKOLA is our school bag, made for the weight and rhythm of a full
school day. Everything inside has its designated place: heavy books sit close to the back,
the lunchbox and water bottle have their own compartment, and there is an extra pocket at the front
for small treasures. Weighing around 850 grams, the ESKOLA is pleasantly light, so that the way
to school remains comfortable even for small shoulders.

Apart from the magnetic buckles, thread, and straps, the ESKOLA is made from
renewable raw materials: water-repellent organic cotton on the outside, wool felt on the inside, and vegetable-tanned leather on the edges and bottom—exactly where a school bag has to withstand the most during daily school life. Our goal is to bring this share to 100%. Every ESKOLA is sewn in our studio in Berlin and is built to last throughout primary school, after which it can be easily passed on to younger siblings. Nora originally designed it for her own daughter; today, it is our most well-known piece.

Interior

The interior is divided into three compartments. The back compartment lies directly against the back, so the
weight of books and notebooks is carried close to the body. This compartment is also made of
water-repellent organic cotton and provides additional protection for notebooks and books. The main compartment
has room for a pencil case, lunchbox, and water bottle. There is a separate pocket at the front for
smaller items so that they are protected and easy to find again.
A zippered pocket for personal items is located in the flap. The key hangs on the snap hook, and a webbing loop holds the water bottle upright so that nothing tips over or leaks.

Carrying comfort and visibility
The back panel and shoulder straps are padded, and the straps are adjustable in length.
This ensures the ESKOLA sits comfortably throughout the entire school day. Reflective piping on the edges
and on the leather trim at the front ensures that your child is well seen on dark winter mornings and
afternoons.

Closure
The magnetic FIDLOCK buckles open with a simple downward pull and
snap shut almost by themselves when closing. Even small hands can manage this without help.
Chest strap
The ESKOLA sits so well on the back that most children do not need a chest strap.
If you would like one, you can simply order it, and we will sew it directly onto the bag.

Organic Cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted Panama weave, woven and dyed in
Germany and Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear.
It is robust and abrasion-resistant, yet feels pleasantly soft. It is impregnated
with a PFC-free C0 finish that causes rain to bead off and contains no harmful
chemicals. It is made for everything that a school day brings.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt dry first. You can also simply knock out dust,
just like with a cushion. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly
damp microfiber cloth, ideally without any soap. For a more thorough
cleaning, work a little mild soapy water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent
is suitable) into the fabric with a soft brush and then wipe with clear
water. This prevents soap residue from remaining in the fabric, which can otherwise leave marks.
Dab the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, keeping it away from radiators and direct heat.

Wool Felt
The inner lining is wool felt from Italy, made of 75% recycled wool from New Zealand
and 25% polyester. It gives the bag its shape, cushions the back, and is breathable.
Wool balances heat and cool, keeping the back feeling comfortable.
Care: The felt sits protected on the inside and does not require any special care. If something
does spill, dab the area with a damp cloth and leave the bag open to air dry.

Vegetable-Tanned Leather
The edges and bottom of the ESKOLA are reinforced with vegetable-tanned leather from Italy. It
protects the areas that take the most wear in daily school life and becomes more beautiful with each passing year:
through touch, light, and use, it develops a patina that becomes deeper over time.
Every mark it collects tells a piece of your child’s school life.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove surface dirt.
You can even out water stains or dry areas by rubbing the damp cloth over the spot and the surrounding area.
About once a year, the leather appreciates a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it.
Make sure none of it gets on the fabric, as it can leave stains there.

Hardware
The magnetic buckles are by FIDLOCK; sliders and snap hooks are made of aluminum. They
do not require special care.
Natural materials change over time. Colors may darken slightly or become softer,
and this is precisely what shows what your bag is made of.
