ESKOLA | lavender fizz

The ESKOLA is our school bag, made for the weight and rhythm of an entire
school day. Everything has its place inside: heavy books sit close to the back,
lunchbox and water bottle have their own compartments, and there is an extra
compartment in the front for little treasures. At around 850 grams, the ESKOLA is pleasantly light, so that the way to school remains comfortable even for small shoulders.

Apart from magnetic fasteners, thread, and straps, the ESKOLA consists of
renewable raw materials: water-repellent organic cotton on the outside, wool felt on the inside, and vegetable-tanned leather on the edges and bottom—exactly where a school bag has to endure the most during the school day. Our goal is to bring this share to 100%. Every ESKOLA is sewn in our studio in Berlin and is built to last throughout primary school and then be easily passed on to younger siblings. Nora originally designed it for her own daughter; today it is our most well-known piece.

Interior

The interior is divided into three compartments. The back compartment lies directly against the back, so the
weight of books and notebooks is carried close to the body. This compartment is also made of
water-repellent organic cotton and additionally protects notebooks and books. The main compartment has space for
pencil cases, a lunchbox, and a water bottle. There is a separate compartment in the front for
smaller items, so they are protected and easy to find again.
In the flap is a zippered pocket for personal items. The key hangs from the snap hook, and a webbing loop keeps the water bottle upright so that nothing tips over or leaks.

Comfort and visibility
The back section and shoulder straps are padded, and the straps are adjustable in length.
This keeps the ESKOLA comfortable all school day long. Reflective piping on the edges
and on the leather trim on the front ensures that your child is clearly visible on dark winter mornings and
afternoons.

Fastener
The magnetic FIDLOCK fasteners open with a simple pull downwards and
snap shut almost by themselves when closing. Even small hands can do this without any help.
Chest strap
The ESKOLA sits so well on the back that most children do not need a chest strap.
If you would still like one, you can simply order it separately, and we will sew it directly onto the bag.

Organic Cotton
The organic cotton is a triple-twisted Panama weave, woven and dyed in
Germany and Italy. This fabric was originally developed for workwear.
It is robust and abrasion-resistant while still feeling pleasantly soft.
It is impregnated with a PFC-free C0 finish, which causes rain to bead off and manages entirely without harmful
chemicals. It is made for everything a school day brings with it.
Care: It is best to brush off loose dirt dry first. You can also simply knock out dust,
just like with a pillow. Small stains can usually be removed with a slightly
damp microfiber cloth, preferably without soap. For a more thorough
cleaning, work a little mild soapy water (a mild shampoo or wool detergent
works well) into the fabric with a soft brush and wipe off afterwards with clear
water. This prevents soap residue from remaining in the fabric, which can otherwise leave marks.
Pat the bag dry with a towel and let it air dry, away from heaters and direct heat.

Wool Felt
The inner lining is wool felt from Italy, made of 75% recycled wool from New Zealand
and 25% polyester. It gives the bag its shape, cushions the back, and is breathable.
Wool balances heat and cold, so it stays comfortable on the back.
Care: The felt sits protected on the inside and does not require any special care. If
something has spilled, dab the spot with a damp cloth and let the bag
dry open in the air.

Vegetable-tanned leather
The edges and bottom of the ESKOLA are reinforced with vegetable-tanned leather from Italy. It
protects the areas that get the most wear during the school day and becomes more beautiful with every year:
through touch, light, and use, it develops a patina that becomes ever deeper.
Every mark it collects along the way tells a part of your child's school life.
Care: Wipe the leather with a slightly damp cloth to remove superficial dirt.
Balance out water stains or dry spots by rubbing the damp
cloth over the spot and the area around it. About once a year, the leather
will appreciate a natural, colorless leather wax or oil to nourish and protect it.
Make sure that none of this gets on the fabric, as it can leave stains there.

Hardware
The magnetic fasteners are from FIDLOCK, and the slides and snap hooks are made of aluminum. They
do not require any special care.
Natural materials change over time. Colors can darken slightly or
become softer, and that is precisely what shows what your bag is made of.
